Vancouver Airport - Feb and Mar Pick-up Procedures
Vancouver International Airport (YVR) Pick-up Procedures for February and March 2010
I just found out today that there will be slightly different pick-up procedures for the International and Domestic Arrivals with commercial vehicles such as limousines and taxis. This is due to the limited curbside parking for limousines at YVR during the 2010 Olympic Games time.
NORMALLY, during NON-Olympic times, our drivers will park in designated parking stalls, walk into the terminals, and wait for our guests with a sign with their name on it. After which, the driver and the guests will walk out to the vehicle together.
Because, of the limited number of parking stalls during the games, commercial vehicles and drivers will have to wait in a holding area and only after they have been contacted by their guests (which have already collected their baggage and cleared customs) will they be allowed to park in the designated commercial vehicle curbside parking stalls. And, they will only be allowed to park for a maximum of 15 minutes in these stalls. The pick-up procedure during February and March 2010 will now be:
International Arrivals - Pick-up Procedure (February and March 2010)
After the guests have collected their baggage and cleared customs they will go to a new "International Terminal Ground Transportation Dispatch Counter" (the exact name or location of the counter has not been finalized). At this counter the dispatch will notify the vehicle/driver, that their guests are ready for pick-up. After which the driver will park in a designated stall (stalls 25-29 in the International Arrivals - Level 2). I would suggest waiting at the counter until your driver arrives but if the dispatch directs you otherwise, you may meet your driver at the stall that is designated by the dispatch (see map below). After the driver has been notified it will take him about 5 minutes to drive from the holding area to the parking stall at the terminal.
If the guest cannot find the "Dispatch Counter" he/she may call Alpine North Limousine directly (1-866-784-4020 or 604-849-0224) and let us know where they are and we will notify the driver that the guest is ready to be picked up. The guest will then wait until the driver arrives at where they said they were waiting.
